We completed our part of the Quays project on the corner of Symon Street and High Street, Blenheim in October of 2017. This was a magnificent project overlooking the Taylor River and the Amphitheatre, where we supplied and installed the decking, handrails for the wharf structure and paving on the walkways.
The wood chosen for the cantilevered platform is called Purpleheart. It is otherwise known as Amaranth, or scientifically, Peltogyne spp.
Purpleheart is a beautiful wood from Central and South America, chosen when a unique splash of colour is required. When freshly cut the heartwood of Purpleheart is a dull greyish/purplish brown. Upon exposure, the wood becomes a deeper eggplant purple. With further age and exposure to UV light, the wood becomes a dark brown with a hint of purple.
We are very happy with the result of the job adding a very fresh look to an already tranquil rest stop along the beautiful Taylor river.
CMT Group completed the large area of stone paving and landscaping on the surrounding areas and Total Tactilez supplied and installed the Tactile Indicators and safety stair nosing for stairs. We hope both locals, and visitors to Marlborough enjoy the park in this beautiful area of sunny Marlborough.
