CMT Group were the main contractor on this project from demolition to completion. We demolished five existing houses and constructed 8 new buildings, providing 10 healthy homes for the community.
Demolition kicked off in October 2022, removing the existing structures and decontaminating. The earthworks and underground services were completed promptly. The foundations and building were completed in various stages, working quickly and efficiently to ensure every house was made on time to a high standard.
Final construction, fit-outs, landscaping and roading were completed in July 2023 with finishing touches being completed for handover in early August. The new clients can rest assured that their homes were built with care and attention and will provide good housing for those in need.
The project wasn’t without its challenges, including bad weather, limited parking and working to ensure that neighbouring residents and businesses weren’t disturbed. We worked with Kāinga Ora to respond with flexibility, putting up an acoustic wall to reduce noise pollution to the neighbouring hotel and planning parking and roading to cause minimal disturbances to the public.
Construction Manager Jeff Valk commented “This subdivision has been a great success for the CMT team. The tight site and lack of parking presented a challenge, but our team adapted. We planned ahead to ensure the project was completed right, with minimal disturbance to the surrounding residents and businesses.”
