Rose Street Water Main Upgrade

Our civil crew completed the upgrade of approximately 500 metres of water main, roading and footpaths, running from Middle Renwick Road through to the Blue Hills subdivision at the end of Rose Street.

The works involved upgrading the existing line to a new 250mm water main, with multiple critical connections along the line to tie into existing infrastructure:

  • Middle Renwick Road: Installed a four-way connection linking the new 250mm line to existing 250mm, 200mm, and 150mm mains feeding into Rose Street.
  • Banksia Place: Constructed a second four-way connection tying the 250mm line into the existing 150mm main running through Banksia Place.
  • Florence Place: Delivered another four-way connection, linking the 250mm main to the 150mm and 100mm mains servicing Florence Place.
  • Blue Hills Subdivision: Realigned and connected the newly laid 55m section of 250mm main with precision adjustments using 2 × 22° bends, ensuring full integration with the existing network.

To limit disruption to the public, some of the critical connection works were carried out at night. All live connections were completed safely and efficiently, maintaining service continuity throughout the project.

Civil Site Manager David Gill oversaw the project, including ongoing works in the new Blue Hills Subdivision. Despite challenges with dewatering, added variation and redirecting the watermains around existing services, the project went very well.

This upgrade has strengthened Blenheim’s water infrastructure, improving network resilience and capacity for current residents and supporting future growth in the Blue Hills subdivision.
