In a race against time, our team swiftly erected the client-supplied building, meeting strict deadlines. We prepared the site and conducting bulk excavations for the foundations. Roading, footpath, guardrail, and fencing installations seamlessly connected the site. Without delay, we commenced foundation and floor work after establishing the foundation raft.
Exterior elements took shape as we efficiently installed external cladding, including the roof. Inside, we paid careful attention to detail by adding insulation, internal linings, and cosmetic items like stopping, painting, and trim work. The Temporary Terminal building received its final fitout to cater to immediate needs during construction. Considering climate change and rising sea levels, we relocated the Rental car Kiosk to a new area. Skillfully integrating ramps, stairs, and handrails ensured accessibility and safety. We also provided logistical support for passenger re-routing, ensuring smooth embarkation and disembarkation from ferries.
Throughout the project, our meticulous planning and execution resulted in minimal disruptions to daily operations. This dedication earned praise from both the client and passengers. Our construction journey demonstrates our commitment to excellence, efficiency, and client satisfaction. With a successful project delivery, we at CMT Group stand as professionals who meet strict deadlines while maintaining the highest standards of quality.
iReX Picton Project Manager for Waitohi Picton Harry Singh says working with local contractors is a pleasure. “Having a local team with the skills needed to get the project underway has set us up well. We know that even with the main works contract being led by Downer HEB JV, there will always be room for good local contractors to be doing their bit.”
What's next for the iReX project?
The completion of the Temporary Terminal is just the beginning. The CMT team is already forging ahead with the next phase of the project. Next up we’ve got the construction of a substation, a retaining wall, a rental car kiosk, a mechanical depot, and the demolition of the old terminal.
